Roundup: Athletic & Lounge Wear

IMG_4752.JPG

In a recent Instagram poll, I asked: should I do a roundup of athletic or lounge wear? The poll came in at nearly 50/50, so I am sharing both! Honestly, I often wear interchange the two anyways (leggings are for sweating and lounging, right?).

Now that I’m no longer wearing office attire, I have fallen into a cozy clothing addiction. I’ve made new discoveries, but also have my tried-and-true go-to’s that I’d love to share with you!

Let me know if you have any questions! Enjoy!

Athletic

Bras.

Bras are super tricky, at least for me. With all the different activities I do, I need an array of different bras to choose from depending on the impact of my activity.

For low-impact movement (like barre or yoga), I really like this one from Alo. It’s supportive, flattering, and just the right amount of uniqueness with the back detailing.

For medium-to-high impact activity (like running), I really like this one from Nike. Also, I love this bra from Natori. It’s for high-impact sports and prevents the unwanted “unaboob” by giving a nice womanly shape.

For reference, I am a 32C and have a size Small in all my bras (except for the Natori which comes in normal bra sizes).

Tops.

I love my little crop tank from Beyond Yoga! The SpaceDye line is my new favorite technical fabric. I have the leggings to match as a set. It’s my favorite for barre or yoga—there is a built in bra shelf, but there’s no padding and is best suited for low-impact movement.

My most worn workout tops are these ones from Lululemon. Running, walking, barre, yoga, pilates, or even lounging—they’re so versatile. I also own one of these and love it. The built-in bra is provides enough support for pretty much any activity.

Bottoms.

Biker shorts are a thing right now. I purchased the Align Biker Shorts from Lululemon and love them. Also interested in these SpaceDye bikers from Beyond Yoga because, as I’ve mentioned, the fabric is un-freaking-believable.

My favorite leggings to run in are these from Lulu (I prefer side pockets and NO back zipper). I also like how there are compression (they suck you in!) and have a draw string. For studio activities, like barre or pilates, I love these leggings. They hold you in a little better than the cult following Lulu Align pant and they’re still super stretchy.

Feet.

I’d be remiss to not share my favorite running shoes: Adidas Ultraboost. I’ve been loyal to this style for years; I honestly cannot remember the last time I purchased a different style. They are lightweight, have awesome support, and as the name suggests, have a “boost” feature to them!

My favorite running socks are the Lululemon Speed Tab.

Lounge

Bottoms.

Joggers, to me, are the ultimate lounge essential item. I’ve been a long-time fan of the Lululemon Align Jogger. They’re almost a hybrid of a legging and a jogger, which I love. Also, I recently discovered Tommy John’s Women’s Lounge Jogger and I AM IN LOVE. They are super breathable for the warmer months and totally function as a to-and-from pant too. Also interested in these joggers from Splits59.

These shorts from Tommy John are a god-sent for lounging or sleeping—they’re insanely soft and breathable. Also, I recently got these shorts from Lululemon and they are a total winner. The fabric is thick, yet breathable. I love the oversized look, the drawstring, and big pockets.

Tops.

I love a good lounge tee. My favorites to lounge in are these ones from Everlane. Also, I’ve been lounging in this oversized sweater from Everlane a lot. This was once a “nice” sweater in my closet, but once it got worn and semi-stained, I retired it over to my lounge drawer. I’ve done this with worn cashmere too—it’s too nice to throw out!

Also, I have to mention Varley, because it’s my favorite loungey/athletic hybrid brand at the moment, especially for pullovers. I own this pullover (now on sale!) and love it for cold months. I also love this Varley pullover and this Varley sweatshirt for the in-between seasons or cool summer nights.

Feet.

Hanes socks for life. You can buy these on Amazon—they’re super inexpensive and you get ten pairs! Live in these.

I’ve also mentioned my love for these Mocs from Jenni Kayne. I wear these as slippers, but also as my to-and-from shoe for running errands or walking the dog. My favorite investment in a long time. I found a less expensive version here.
