Spring is officially here, and I am really thrilled to know we are on our way to warmer weather. Not sure about your climate, but in Milwaukee—and, the midwest generally—the weather varies substantially on a day-to-day basis in March and April. One day, it will be 60-degrees and sunny, and the next, it’ll be 34 degrees and snowy. It’s so unpredictable!

Next month we will go to Santa Barbara, CA, which I am SO excited about! I know the weather shifts, but in a more consistent manner: warm and sunny during the day, with temps dropping to a slight chill in the morning and evening.

It goes without saying that, this time of year, I like to focus on wardrobe pieces that work for the shifting climate. I love light layers that go together seamlessly — you know, the “don’t-have-to-think-much-about-it” pieces.

The list below are the items I’ve either invested in already, or plan to get for this spring season. Enjoy! xoxo

Mid-weight Jacket

I personally love an oversized denim jacket most — they can be layered over pretty much anything! I have a medium blue jacket and an ivory, but I may go for a washed black denim jacket this season.

Easy Long Dress

Something that is suitable for day-or-evening. I try to stick to neutral colors, and if I go for a pattern, I want it to be subtle enough to be appropriate for any occasion. I think I’m going for the Xirena olive green dress this season.

Trusty Pullover or Cardigan

Wear it over said dress above, alone with a pair of denim, or even after a workout. I swear these layers are my most beloved — can’t get enough of them!

Sunglasses

It’s been a long time since I’ve purchased a pair of sunnies. This year, I think I may even pull the trigger on a pair of classic polarized sunnies.

Sun Hat

I have to admit, I wear my baseball cap ALL the time — and I think it can honestly look chic! Such easy sun protection for walks. Of course, I love my Janessa Leone hats too for a less casual look.

Flats

Personally, I’m a big fan of a sleek loafer — again, just so versatile (jeans or dresses type of thing). I just got the Aeyde loafers and I’m starry eyed. Couldn’t be more perf!

Sandal

Okay so these are more for my California trip, but I cannot lie that I will push wearing sandals in Milwaukee when it’s over 50 degrees! I love a pretty sandal so much. Usually, I go for a neutral tone with a pretty weave or unique detail.

Chic Casual Jeans

I couldn’t leave out a good pair of quality denim. I’m quite drawn to the wider leg/bootcut look these days. I am really happy with my blue jeans that I have in my current collection, so I am going for the ivory or black this spring — can’t decide which yet!
