My Favorite Ceramists

Last year, I started to really appreciate the beauty of handcrafted ceramics. Especially handmade dishes — it’s the most useful art! — and they make make the experience of eating/drinking even more enjoyable. Whether it’s the mug I sip my morning coffee from, or the small plate I grab my toast from — there’s something magical about how my ceramics make even the mundane moments feel special.

One of my 2021 goals was to replace all my generic dishes with beautiful ceramics. Every month, I collect a few more items to add to my collection (it’s a growing family!). I often get questions about my dishes, so I thought I’d share my most treasured items and favorite ceramists here.

Enjoy!

Aquiles

My first ceramic pieces came from Aquiles — actually, these are the pieces that turned me into a ceramic enthusiast! Based out of Portugal, the ceramist, Inês, creates her pieces with flawless symmetry, modern lines, and classic minimalism. I have two of her mugs, two salad plates, and two small bowls (great for snacking or small soup bowls). Love!

Good Kind Work

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll notice I often share my new pieces from Good Kind Work. Michelle, the ceramist, is an insane artist and hand-paints each of her pieces. I have four of her mugs (I love the flat handles), two salad plates, two soup bowls, and I just ordered her dinner plates! Obsessed is an understatement.

Zoe Dering

I don’t know how I stumbled across Zoe’s work, but all I know is I emailed her the minute I saw her burst plate (also in love with her vases). I also ordered four of her fluted bowls and I just love the size, color, and lines.

KJ Pottery

A great one to buy classic dinner sets from! I recently got four of her dinner plates and two pasta bowls to get started on a full dining set.

Becky Aubry Ceramics

Becky is the mother of one of my talented Insta-friends, Emily Schoen, who’s a realtor but also an interior guru. Becky is an insane artist! I have one of her candlestick holders and one of her bowls, but I have to say—I think I need one of her lamps.

Mt. Washington Pottery

I love my bowl and dinner plates from Washington Pottery, and I am eyeing all of her mugs too. Beth’s stuff sells out quick!

Bennington Potters

This sweet little stoneware is out of Vermont — I just find it all so charming! I have her batter bowl, but I love all the bakeware.
