Skincare Lately

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to take care of my skin.

My mom, a former cosmetologist, got me into the beauty game young in life. I remember her buying me the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion when I was in grade school. It wasn’t the “norm” at that time, to spend upwards of $45 on moisturizer as a ten-year-old, but my mom was adamant that I start a good skin care routine at a young age.

To some this may sound silly or excessive. but I thank my mother. Taking care of my skin has always been a priority for me, almost like brushing my teeth. I never skip it, no matter how tired I am in the mornings or evenings. It’s also become a feel-good ritual; a self-nourishing act. The way I see it, skincare is one opportunity to experience a little indulgence (with the aromas, formulas, applications, etc.).

I’m often asked about my skincare routine (it’s been a while sine I last shared!), and I recently have experimented with some lovely brands — so I thought I’d take moment to type up my routine, new products I am using, and some tried-and-true products I keep going back to.

Also, it should be noted — all of the items below are pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly!

Codes/discounts are at the bottom.

Enjoy! xx

MORNING

Cleanse

Currently using the Osea’s Ocean Cleanser (a favorite), but also will always return to Chantecaille’s Rice and Geranium Cleanser (it’s actual perfection). Other go-to’s are Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleaner and iS Clinical’s Complex Cleanser.

Vitamin C

To brighten and protect against free radicals — I use Vitamin C daily.

I am currently using Oak Essential’s newest Vitamin C (I love the lotion-like application). Previously, I was using Sunday Riley’s CEO Vitamin C Serum, which is similar to Oak Essentials lotion-like consistency. I have also used iS Clinical’s Super Serum, which is apparently more high-performing (but more of a liquid sticky consistency). I personally like the lotion-like application best.

OIL AND/OR DAY CREAM

Depending on the season and how dry my skin is, I will either use just an oil or day cream to moisturize, or I will layer the two.

Right now I am using Furtuna’s oil, and I’m obsessed! It is lighter, almost silky in it’s consistency, but moisturizes so well. I also always go back to Vintner’s Daughter oil. Also love RMS Beauty Oil.

Depending on my dryness, I will layer with Osea’s Atmosphere Protection Cream. It’s light enough for daytime with the right amount of added moisture.

SPF

As I see sunspots appear, I have tried to be a little more consistent with a SPF in the morning. I make sure to use a mineral (non-chemical) based sunscreen with titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide.

My favorite is ColoreScience’s tinted SPA (my derm friend told me the tinted is more effective than non-tinted). Also love Aveda’s Daily Light Guard, which appears slightly tinted as well. I also love how this barely-there-tint creates the slightest veil of coverage to the skin.

EVENING

REMoVe MAKEUP

My two tried-and-true favorites are Natura Bisse’s makeup remover and RMS’s makeup remover wipes. Both are phenom.

Cleanse

As noted above, I am currently using the Osea’s Ocean Cleanser (a favorite), but also will always return to Chantecaille’s Rice and Geranium Cleanser (it’s actual perfection). Other go-to’s are Youth to the People’s Superfood Cleaner and iS Clinical’s Complex Cleanser.

ACTIVE SERUM

Probably the most game-changer product in my regime: iS Clinical’s Active Serum. It is truly a miracle product — it evens skin tone, diminishes fine lines, minimized pores. It’s unreal — even convinced my facialist to get it!

OIL AND/OR NIGHT CREAM

Again, depending on my dry factor, I will either use only an oil or a moisturizer, but often, I’ll use both! Right now I am using both Furtuna’s oil and Furtuna's Nightly Cream in the evenings (I love both!). I also go back to Omorovicza’s Blue Diamond Super Cream and Augustinu’s Bader’s Rich Cream.

EYE CREAM

Only started to use an eye cream about two months ago, and I am using Osea’s Firming Eye Cream.

LIPs, HANDS, FEET

Before going to bed, I always treat my lips, hands, and feet.

My go-to is Laneige’s lip mask, but right now I am loving Oak Essentials Lip Balm. I also use either Osea’s Anti-Aging Hand Lotion or Aveda’s Hand Relief Serum on both my hands and feet. I have these goodies in my nightstand.

WEEKLYS

exfoliation

To remove dead skin cells and enhance that glow, I do weekly exfoliations. I love both Omorovisca’s Facial Polish (using this now!) and Goop’s Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator.

I do this 2-3 times a week as a deeper exfoliation treatment (usually in the morning — so good before a makeup application!).

MASKS

For a deeper cleanse, I like to do a face mask as I zen out in the tub. My favorite mask—and really, the only one I ever use—is Omorovizca’s Mud Mask. I aim to do this once a week, but truly, it happens more biweekly.
