Recipe: Homemade Vanilla Almond Milk
Almond milk has a huge place in the “health” market as a non-dairy alternative to milk. It’s largely consumed — but did you know that the store-bought stuff is often loaded with things that are, well, not-so-healthy?
Thankfully, homemade almond milk is super easy to make, and also, tastes much better in my opinion! Truly, sometimes I drink this stuff alone as a little treat.
Here is my go-to vanilla almond milk recipe. Pour it in smoothies, oatmeal or cereal, tea or coffee, pair it with a sweet treat, or drink it alone (I do)!
Enjoy! xx
INGREDIENTS
1 cup raw almonds
4 cups filtered water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon honey
Pinch of sea salt
DIRECTIONS
Add almonds to a bowl and submerge in water. Soak overnight (or 6-8 hrs) so that the almond soften.
After soaking, add almonds to a blender with 4 cups of filtered water.
Add vanilla, honey, and salt.
Blend on high for 1 min.
Place nut bag over a bowl, pour the milk mixture in, and strain. Use hands to ring all the milk out.
Pour milk into glass containers and store for a week, but usually longer!
