My Clean + Minimal Daily Makeup

IMG_1297.JPG

Before you read on, I want to make it known that this is not a how-to guide with makeup tricks and tips. I am not a shadowing expert, nor am I a contouring queen. I also don’t believe that women need to own or use a lot of makeup.

What I DO believe is that, when we take care of ourselves, we don’t need much makeup!   In my opinion, the best beauty tips are: drink sufficient water, get enough sleep, eat nutritious foods, and exercise. I choose the philosophy that makeup should enhance our features and not cover them up.

Okay, but playing with makeup is still fun! So I’ll go ahead and share my routine. I use mostly RMS Beauty as it’s a clean makeup line, but incorporate Chantecaille and Honest Beauty as well.

Daily Makeup Routine

Step One: Un-Cover Up by RMS Beauty

First, I begin using RMS’s Uncover Up in shade 22. I dig a little bit out of the pot and use my hand as a palette.

I cover up only the darker places on my skin—under my eyes and some sunspots and/or hyper pigmentation. In other words, I use it more as a concealer, but you can also use this product all over.

This is not a high-coverage formula, but RMS did recently launch this foundation which has more coverages.

Step Two: Buriti Bronzer by RMS Beauty

Next, I put RMS’s Buriti Bronzer around my forehead, cheek bones, and sides of nose. To apply, I dig a little out of the pot and use my hand as a palette (as I did with the Un-Cover Up).

Any excess product I will put under my chin, almost to create a sculpting illusion (again, not a contour queen, but it seems to work).

Step Three: Modest Lip2Cheek by RMS Beauty

This is a great product because it’s two-in-one (i.e.,cheeks and lips)! Dab this guy on your lips, on the apple of your cheek, and up your cheek bone.

Step Four: Living Luminizer by RMS

This product has a cult following—it was the product that got their brandname recognition. Such a lovely, dewy glow (not shimmery). Dab this on top of your cheek bones, down the bridge of your nose, cupids bow, and on your brow bone.

Step Five: Eye Primer

I use Ilia’s eye primer (another clean brand). This creates a nice clean base for your eyelid, even if you don’t put eyeshadow on top. If I do use eyeshadow, I will use Chantecaille’s Mermaid eye color in Copper.

Step Six: Mascara

Currently using Honest Beauty, which is Jessica Alba’s line. It’s a clean brand that actually works, and is super inexpensive! Also love that this is a primer + mascara duo.

Step Seven: Brows

Sometimes I will use the Anastacia Brow Wiz pencil to elongate my brows (mine end prematurely). I use the color Taupe. I like the fineness of this pencil, but be aware this is not a clean product.

Step Eight: Eyeliner

If I’m feeling fancy, I will do the slightest line of eyeliner right at the base of my lashes. The goal is to make it look like I’m not wearing any liner, and that it just creates the illusion that my lashes are longer. My favorite liner to accomplish this is the Ultra Slim Liner by Chantecaille.
