Let's Get Fancy
Dear Reader,
Did you see Thanksgiving is on the calendar next week?
I’m a bit alarmed by this realization.
One, I’m hosting for turkey day, so there’s that… but also, I’m still in denial that Summer is even over (and it’s so over — like, thirty-degrees and snow on the ground over).
Usually, by this time, I’ve nearly completed all my holiday shopping. This year, I have yet to purchase one gift.
So yeah — I’m behind.
In any event, I’m trying to “take the load off” my holiday checklist by simplifying my holiday wardrobe. Although I appreciate a good sequin dress moment, I personally prefer a low-key holiday look with just a touch of fancy flare.
Alone, my pieces don’t scream “holiday”, though they can feel quite jingle-bells with a small touch: a red lip, a statement earring, a special clutch, etc.
Also, I like to take this season to buy something to wear now that I will love beyond the season (like a pair of heels, for instance).
My justification: it’s a holiday gift to myself!
