Can Anyone Argue with a Black Dress?
Dear Reader,
We’re bleeding deeper into December, and you still have nothing to wear for your end-of-year events.
Perhaps you’re not sure what to wear.
Perhaps you simply don’t want to spend money on a one-time-use item.
Perhaps you’re mind is on your check-list, and thinking about what to wear is the furthest thing from your radar.
I get all that.
Lo and behold, the black dress comes to save us all.
Here’s the thing: no one can argue with a black dress. It’s perhaps the most agreeable form of garment, working for merely any and all occasions (wear it now, and wear it later).
The black dress is your “call a friend” when you don’t have the answer. It is foolproof; it always works.
Another cool thing: you can save on black dresses. Not only do I mean this in “times per wear” sense (because, as mentioned, you can rewear a black dress beyond a holiday occasion), but I also mean in terms of the garment itself.
Yes, I mean an inexpensive black dress can often look quite exquisite.
I don’t remember who said it—I believe it was Carolyn Bessette—that, if you buy something cheap, buy it in black. Other colors in budget materials show the price. Black doesn’t.
Below I share some of my favorite black dresses to wear now or later at a variety of price points.
xx Megan
