Brand Hype: Westman Atelier

I’ve always been a “skincare before makeup” kind of gal. Makeup usually doesn’t excite me in the way a cleanser or moisturizer does. Really, the last time I was smitten by a makeup line was in 2012, when I discovered RMS Beauty. RMS was my introduction to natural-looking, organic makeup, and I was a sucker for the pretty glass-pot packaging.

RMS was pretty much all I wore until 2020… when I was taken by another makeup brand.

Lo and behold: Westman Atelier. The makeup that stole my heart after eight years of loyalty to RMS Beauty (for the record, Rose-Marie, I still love you). The line is founded by Gucci Westman, a long-time celeb makeup artist, and has been around for only two years but already has a large following.

Why does this brand receive so much love? Many reasons. First, all the products are totally clean, yet still have serious staying power (a miracle, really). Second, the formulas are “silky” and blend beautifully onto the skin. Also, the minimalistic magnetic packing is not only stunning but is also functional and packable. Plus, each product gets a cute little fabric sleeve. Every detail is luxurious and chic.

Truly, there isn’t a Westman product I don’t like (and yes, I’ve tried them all). With most of my favorite brands—whether it’s makeup or skincare—I often cherry-pick which items I adore and leave behind the items I consider “so-so.” With Westman, it’s tough to choose which products I’d take to the desert island, so to speak.

With all that said, Westman is a “clean luxury” line, so the price is a little steeper. I didn’t buy all my makeup at once—I’ve added to my collection throughout this year. I think, if you want to start investing in this quality line, there are products I’d begin with (the staples) and ones I’d try down the line (the fun ones).

Where to Begin

1. Foundation Stick

Despite never wearing foundation, I started with the Vital Foundation Stick. I tried it on in store and fell in love with the formula and how it made my skin look. I don’t wear it all over, but use it more as a concealer (it can be used as both a concealer and foundation). I have shade number II.

2. Baby Cheeks

If you’re a Lip2Cheek gal, you’ll love Baby Cheeks. It’s a versatile product that blends beautifully into the cheeks, lips, and eyes. I have both the Petal and Chouchette hues.

3. Super Loaded Tinted Highlight

Not really a bronzer, not really a blush, but a veil of luminosity that stays throughout the entire day. I have the shade Peau de Soleil, which leans on the warmer sun-kissed side (as opposed to the Peau de Rose or Peach—each of which are gorg). I use Westman’s Blender Brush with this product and it’s pure perfection.

*** I can’t forget to mention that the Contour Stick is insanely good, but it’s on backorder (that’s how great it is). I would insert this somewhere on the “starter” list, but I have only tried it on in store (I am waiting for mine to arrive), so I can’t confidently say where it falls numerically.

The More Fun Stuff

4. Eye Pods

Usually, I’m not an eyeshadow girl (this line changed me), but I love these natural shades and how they can be worn either bold or subtly. I have the shade Les Jours—I wear the ivory and bronze almost every day, and the chocolate for more special occasions.

5. Lip Suede

This is my latest splurge with the Westman line, and I am obsessed. It’s called lip suede, but it’s more of a powder-to-cream stain vibe. I love all the colors (can be worn separately or mixed), and it stays all day long. I almost didn’t buy this (because masks in 2020), but my husband saw me wearing it and said “you have to get that.” Okay, sold!

6. Lit Up Stick

If you’re a fan of RMS’s Living Luminizer, you’ll dig this product. It gives that “dewy” look we all know and love. I really like it in the stick form—it’s fool proof. This was one of my first products I got, but I think the Living Luminizer has a similar effect at a lower price.

Discount Code!:

Sadly, the Westman Atelier line never goes on sale. However, I do have good some good news: you can get 10% off all of Westman Atelier’s products on Arch’s website by using the code I<3Arch. Arch is also offering 15% off this Friday (12/18) for client appreciation day.

Side note: if you’re not ready to go for the price-point of Westman Atelier, Arch also carries RMS Beauty. ;) Discount applies to all product.

Let me know if/what you try… I love talking about this stuff.

Enjoy, friends!
