Home Inspiration: An Ode to Old Midwestern Homes

Recently, I was browsing Pinterest and landed upon the image above—it struck me right away. Certain elements of this home—namely, the 1920’s build, the refinished natural oak floors, the arched entrances, the neutral color scheme with pops of green plant life—reminded me the elements in our own home. I love it’s calm, sanctuary-like character.

Ironically, it’s located in Chicago, not far from where we live.

Michael and I often talk about moving somewhere warm, building something fresh, but frankly, I realize all the time how much potential we have here, right now. Rather than looking for inspiration that reminds me of how far I have to reach, I’m finding more inspiration that reminds me of the place I’m at.
