10 Things for September

Dear Reader,

I write to you on the first day of September, next to Quinn as she sleeps by the fireplace. It’s 70-degree day with a crisp air that flows between branches, creating shadows of floating leafs throughout our home.

It’s really quite spectacular.

There is so much beauty this time of year. I cannot help myself but capture all the small meaningless (but maybe the most meaningful? )fleeting scenes around me.

Like the light that dances on our unlacquered brass doorknobs. Or the steam ribbons that float from my hot mug on cool mornings. Or the way Kennedy feeds her baby sister a bottle.

These small moments get me teary-eyed sometimes. Teary, because I don’t want the moment to pass. I am attached to the beauty of the short-lived transition.

I’m reminding myself to just be with the moment; to not dread it’s end.

Because endings are also beginnings.

Soon enough, the outdoor greens will fade to copper. I’ll light muskier-scented candles, dive into heartier soups, wear featherweight cashmere before the climate calls for something heavier.

And once those simple moments pass, I’ll remind myself there is beauty after that too.

Because endings are also beginnings.

Wow, life’s seasons give me feels.

Do they have this pull on your heart too?

Wishing you all a beautiful September — where Summer ends, and Fall begins.

xx Megan

WEARABLE

BEAUTY

  • La Bonne Brosse Brushes

There are certain things I’m very particular about — my haircare is one of those things. My Mason Pearson has been through life with me, but I may have a hair affair with La Bonne Brosse brushes. Made in France, they are stunning and built with purpose (e.g., this one that massages the scalp while detangling).

  • Rhode Pineapple Cleanser

I tried all—and I mean all—of Hailey Bieber’s products, and the only one I am smitten by is her pineapple cleanser. It’s thick (you don’t need much) but it lathers and cleanses like a machine. Also smells nice; not too pineapple sweet.

HOME

  • Charming Creamware

If you like to host, but your food isn’t all that great, considering compensating with Moda Domus Balconata Creamware. Your guests will be won over, regardless of grub.

  • Splatterware

Whenever my readers get a glimpse into my splatterware, I get questions galore. Some favorites: Bennington Potter for bakeware, il Buco Vita for produce display, Cabanafor tabletop and dining.

WELLNESS

  • HigherDOSE Mask

I was unsure whether to categorize this as beauty or wellness — this infrared maskbleeds into both realms. I chose wellness because, at this point, the greatest benefit is how it makes me feel. Put simply, it makes me flushed and happy. Set the timer for either 10 or 20-minutes (three times a week for benefits). I use the timer for a meditation too — habit stack!

  • All My Magnesium

I’ve been on a huge magnesium kick — it is *the mineral* to calm your nervous system and promote muscle recovery. Kroma’s magnesium is a fruity powder I’ve added to my water lately. I also like Cymbiotika’s liposomal as a little treat in the evening (tastes like dessert). I also have long loved these bath flakes (magnesium is actually best absorbed topically).

  • Strength Training

For the first time in my life, I hired a personal trainer for strength training. Only one day a week, but I’m telling you—the things we do make SUCH a difference. I use a lot of TRX, resistance bands, and small weights.
