10 Things for December
Dear Reader,
I write to you on the first morning of being in our new home.
I’m up early (although I should be sleeping) and surrounded by boxes in our new living room. Things are disorderly after last night’s move, and for some reason, taking a moment to sit and write brings me small amount of peace in moments of chaos.
Even if you’re in the midst of a move, I imagine you still feel a little chaos of the holiday season, yeah? This time of year always feels a bit hurried. Events to go to, annual family get-togethers, gift-wrapping, cooking and baking, card-signing and envelope-addressing.
Perhaps I am speaking for myself, but during this busy season, I actively remind myself to find the simple joys and peace that rests under the layers of commotion.
Despite being in a foreign house of messy, unorganized chaos, I can still find peace in this very moment with little practices — a cup of coffee (I pulled out a single mug), a burning candle, a moment to write and connect with myself and my readers.
No matter how busy your December may be, I hope you, too, have a moment to find the peace that is always present in the background.
xx Megan

10 THINGS
WEARABLE
The stud shoe trend is on my radar, guys. Long intrigued by the always-so-old ballet flats Alaïa (also in mule-form), but I think I’m digging Khaite’s version most (without crystal, seems a bit more versatile/less flash).
Are you going on any warm vacations? If so, check out Marysia’s newest collection — specifically, the Ligne and Bianco maillot. The lines are simply elegant and feel very different from their iconic scallop designs. (MEGANK15 for discount.)
If you’re simply lounging at home, these sweatpants are my all-time favorite — thick fuzzy cotton on the inside with pockets and a drawstring.
BEAUTY
My holiday beauty look: a champagne eyelid (in linen), a dewy cheekbone, and a red lip tint. (Absolutely my newest favorite beauty brand.)
Vegamour sent me a box full of love, and I’m writing home to share: you need a scalp massager. Also just started their clean brow and lash growth serum — will report back.
HOME
Long adored these tapestry pillows, and I found someone on Etsy who creates them with the same Scalamandré fabric for a bit less money.
Wall art is a challenge for me to find, but lately, I’ve discovered so many gorgeous original antique paintings. Love a traditional moody still-life in a bright space, so I plan to invest in a few of these once I get a feel for our new space.
Winter is for hibernation mode, and I’m fairly certain this hammered glass hurricane candle holder might create the most magical cozy vibe (I’d use these ivory beeswax pillar candles).
WELLNESS
For years, I’ve been a big fan of cupping massages, and this may be my at-home remedy (includes heat too!).
Setting my intentions first thing in the morning makes a tremendous impact on my day. I used to use The Five Minute Journal daily, but lately got away from the practice. I recently received this cutesy gratitude journal by Papier, and I swear the prompts make a dramatic difference in my day by the momentum it creates.
