Easy Ways to Refresh a Space

Now that August is over, and we’re heading into Labor Day, there’s a lingering reminder that autumn is on its way. Whenever the seasons change—or, really, whenever I’m in the mood—I like to change up my space to give it a new refresh.

Here are some simple ways I refresh my space.

Switch pillow covers

I always buy pillow covers with zippers—that way, I can interchange them between the seasons. Usually, the zip pillows are a little pricier than the zipless pillows that you’ll find at Target, but I’ve found reasonably priced (and adorable!) pillow covers on Etsy.

Swap vases and preserved floral

I have a cabinet full of little swappable treasures, which include several of my favorite vases and a a wicker basket full of dried plants. I have deep ruby floral for fall, dark greens for winter, and light airy plants for spring and summer.

Add a new fragrance

Now that summer is closing, I’m capping off my beachy candles and replacing them with woodsy aromas like birchwood and clove. If you have colored tapers (my new obsession), you can switch out the color ways for the seasons too.

Add a new piece of inspiration

Add a new coffee table book, a mirror, a new piece of art or photography, or a new plant in your space to revive whatever inspires you this season!
